A Shopping Spree

Hey everyone! Last time I told you all about my process to finding the best props. Of all the props I needed, I was able to obtain most of them for free. This is because I either had the props at home, or I borrowed from friends and family. For the remaining props, I had to shop around.

The first item I went looking for was fake blood for the car crash scene. I first checked Michaels, because I figured they would have it since they were an arts and crafts store. However, when I got there, they were out of stock! I looked online to find another store that would sell fake blood, and luckily, a Target near me had it. I made sure to check it was in stock before I headed over, and thankfully they did. I was able to find small bottles that were cheaply priced and bought 2 just in case we had to redo the scene for any reason.

The next thing on my list was clear tubes. This prop would be for the scene showing that the main character was receiving at home care for the car crash. I knew this prop was important, as it was going to make it clear to the audience that the character was severely hurt. I wasn't sure where to find this kind of item in stores, so I went to Amazon. Sure enough, they had a wide variety to choose from. At first, I chose to purchase a roll of clear tubing that was 15 feet long. I figured that I could cut that one tube into multiple, smaller pieces. That way, I could have it attached to different parts of the actor's body during filming. However, the only issue was that it would not ship to my house in time. So, I kept looking and found a 10 foot tube that would come in two days time. This would be perfect, as even if the shipment was delayed, it would still come before the filming started. Although this option was a shorter length, I think it will still be long enough to work for the scene. The tubing also looks very realistic, so that's a plus!

The last thing I needed to get was a beer bottle for the car scene. I of course can not buy it on my own, so I had to be a little more creative. I asked my parents if they could save an empty bottle for me and they agreed. That way, when it is time to film, I can fill the bottle with water or juice. This will make sure that the scene still looks realistic and doesn't come across as fake or tacky.

That concludes the end of my search for props. I am happy with everything I got, as I think it will all work perfectly for the film. The actual filming process will begin soon, so prepare for some exciting blogs heading your way!
