The Genre Finalist

Image
Hey everyone, I'm writing to you today to give you the final update on which genre we chose! After all of our extensive research, my group and I decided on the mystery genre. We chose this genre due to the conventions of this genre matching our vision of the short film. Mis en scene such as normal settings, like a living room, and light makeup fit our project the best. This would help us convey a false sense of tranquility that is needed in our film.       Editing common in mysteries, such as flashbacks, would also be the best fit for our film. This would help us execute the plot twist in a simple and more comprehensible manner. The use of close-ups also fits our film, as we’re going to have to show the emotions of our characters. Overall, the mystery genre would help us encompass a feeling of suspense and unease throughout our film.       The horror genre was close in our consideration, but it didn’t quite fit. The dark lighti...

Genre Research- Mystery

Hi everyone! My group has officially concluded our genre research with our final genre being mystery. We felt that the mystery genre applies to our pitch idea so we thought it was important to research this genre as well. All of our findings are down below! Genre Research- Horror

Hey everyone, the next film genre we chose to research was horror. Our short film idea has aspects of horror in it, specifically with the feel of unease and uncertainty we want to incorporate. Therefore, we thought it would be a good idea to research that genre area to expand our current knowledge. Our research is in the PowerPoint down below! Genre Research- Romance

Hey everyone! Recently, my group decided to do some essential research on different film genres. This research is going to help us decide what genre to classify our short film into and help us figure out if we want to change the direction of our film. The first genre we decided to research is romance, as we figured that since our short film idea incorporates aspects of romance between husband and wife, this research would be helpful. Below is the PowerPoint we created to condense all of our findings.  Genre Research PowerPoint: Romance Genre from YasminHarebin

Our Pitch

Pitch A: Jack lives a happy life, but his persistent migraines and flashbacks leads him to realize he's been in a coma from a drunk driving accident. Pitch B: Alex, who thought his life was a perfect fairytale, realizes that a single song has allowed him to escape the reality of his abusive household.  The first pitch interested us because we thought the idea would be fun to execute and that it would creatively challenge us. To create this film we would have to find a way to incorporate complicated scenes, like a car crash, with the limited resources we have available to us. However, as a group, we all got together and discussed the practicality of each scene we wanted to film and also discussed alternatives we could use if a scene din't come out as we planned. This yielded successful results and we were all confident that we could make this film come to life. Another reason we liked this pitch was because we knew we could have a cohesive beginning, middle, and end that told an...

Meet the Group

Image
Hey everyone! For my media project this year I have joined a new group and wanted to fill you all in. There are three other people I am working with, Andres, Marvin, and Kyra. The first person in my group is Andres. I've known Andres since preschool, and we've basically grown up together. Since I am so close with him, I know that we work very well together. We've worked on many school projects in the past, and we've also worked together in both debate and mock trial. In addition to working together on all of these different projects, I also worked with Andres during AS Level Media. He was a part of the first group I ever worked with, and we made a commercial. We worked well together, however, halfway through the year he had a schedule change and had to switch to a different class period, so we did not work together on another media project. That is, until now. Currently, Andres is still in a different class period than me, which might lead to a few difficulties in the ...

I'm Back!

Hey guys, I'm back! You haven't heard from me in a while, as I haven't blogged since I finished my AICE Media AS Level Class. I had a long and relaxing summer break and am now back in AICE Media, but this time, it's A Level Media. I'm so excited to be back and blogging for you all, and I know there will be some great videos that I will work on this year.    However, I'm getting a little bit ahead of myself. I know many of you guys have been following my blogs for a while now, over a year, but I'm sure there are a few newcomers this time around. Let me introduce myself.    My name is Yasmin Harebin, and I'm a junior in high school. On this blog, I update you all on my experiences in AICE Media class and fill you in on everything I learn along the way. I began this class in my sophomore year, but at first I wasn't sure I would be very interested in it. That's because I hadn't had much experience with filming and editing, and I didn't c...
