Meet the Group

 Hey everyone! For my media project this year I have joined a new group and wanted to fill you all in. There are three other people I am working with, Andres, Marvin, and Kyra. The first person in my group is Andres. I've known Andres since preschool, and we've basically grown up together. Since I am so close with him, I know that we work very well together. We've worked on many school projects in the past, and we've also worked together in both debate and mock trial. In addition to working together on all of these different projects, I also worked with Andres during AS Level Media. He was a part of the first group I ever worked with, and we made a commercial. We worked well together, however, halfway through the year he had a schedule change and had to switch to a different class period, so we did not work together on another media project. That is, until now. Currently, Andres is still in a different class period than me, which might lead to a few difficulties in the future, but nothing that we can't resolve. I know that Andres is a creative, hardworking, and dedicated worker, so I know that he will add a lot of great input to our team. That is why I was so open to having him join our group. 

The second person in my group is Marvin. I met him during my sophomore year of high school through having had many of the same classes together and even participating in the same clubs. I've gotten to know Marvin well this past year, and I know that he will be a great groupmate. In the past, I have had experiences with group members who wouldn't do their share of the work, but I know that Marvin will go above and beyond for whatever task comes his way, so I am very excited to work with him. 

The last person in my group is Kyra. I also met her during my sophomore year, and like Marvin, I know her through sharing similar classes and participating in many of the same clubs. I remember seeing her and her group's media videos last year, and I saw how great her products were. I think that she is very talented and could add a great perspective to this group. 

The only thing I am worried about when it comes to this group is that Andres and Marvin are both in a different class period than Kyra and I are. However, because there are two of us per the different class periods, we can at least still discuss and work with some of our group during class. We also all see one another at other times during school and often outside of school as well, so I am confident that we can make everything work smoothly. 

I can't wait to start working with my new group. I know that once we put our minds together, we can come up with such a fun and unique film. With us all working together as a group we are going to make so many memories and learn so much from one another. As always, I'll make sure to keep you guys updated. See you next time!

     Hey guys, I wanted to write to you all today to explain the filming process for our commercial.   On Monday, October 4, me and my group met together after-school to film our commercial. I had brought the camera that we needed to use as a prop. Originally, Giulia was supposed to bring the camera, but since she forgot, I wen to my Media Studies teacher and was able to borrow one. After school, we walked to our first location to film the last three scenes. I made the decision to film the scenes out of order because the second location, the arch, was closer to us than the first location, Wilton Creamery. Planning Blog: Title design

Hey guys! So the next thing that we discussed as a group was the design for our titles. Here's what we decided on.       Four our film, all of the titles will appear on the screen in the same way. They will suddenly just appear on the screen, very fast and unexpected. The titles will leave the screen in the same way, seeming to blink out of existence. This helps to create that sense of anticipation that we want to carry throughout our opening sequence. All of our titles will also be incorporated into aspects of the setting. For example, we will place titles on top of doors, on a road, or on cabinets to make them seem flush with the environment. This makes it seem like the titles are a part of the film, and help with the cohesiveness of the embedding.       For the majority of the titles, we want them to appear on the screen from anywhere between 2-4 seconds. Short Film Research: (Buried Treasure/Mystery)

     Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!. I am continuing to research short films and their conventions. I am reviewing short films that follow my genre to learn about conventions I would need to use for my short film. As the genre I am using is mystery, I am going to be watching mystery short films. In this blog I am going to research the mystery short film, “Buried Treasure”. I was able to find this short film option on YouTube.       When the film opens, the music is the first thing once again that I notice. This music is different though from the last movie I reviewed. The difference was that this music got louder progressively as the opening of the short film continued. The lighting is the same though. I notice the dark lighting. The dark lighting creates a very deep shadow and puts spotlights on certain aspects.
