The First Steps

    Hey everyone! Today I am writing to you guys about my next project, a music video. For this project my group consists of only one other person, Giulia Ballarin. I worked with Giulia for the last project I did, the commercial. My group for that project consisted of Giulia, Andres, and myself. However, for this project, we decided not to keep the same group for two reasons. First, Andres had a schedule change and was switched out of our class period into another AICE Media class. Being in different classes made it much harder to work together and collaborate on ideas. Andres also wanted to try working with someone new, so we all decided it was best that me and Giulia only worked together. 

    I chose to continue working with Giulia because I know that we work well together. I have known Giulia since 1st grade, and throughout elementary, middle, and high school we have worked on many projects together. Like me, Giulia is very organized and hardworking, so I know that she will be a good partner for this project. 

    When we first learned about the project in class, Giulia wasn't there, so I began to think of some songs on my own. I looked through my current playlist on Amazon music to see what songs tell a story that could be recreated in a music video. I came up with a few ideas, "Working for the Weekend" by MAX and "Material  Girl" by Rihanna. I planned on sharing the songs and discussing it with Giulia when I got home that day, but I ended up getting extremely sick. I was sick for about the next 3 days so I wasn't able to finalize a song choice with Giulia. 

    However, while I was sick, Giulia sent me a few different song choices that she thought would be good for the project. Once I got better I sent her the songs I had picked out and listened to the ones she sent me. We eventually decided to choose the song "Attracted to you" by PinkPantheress. I liked the song because it tells a story about hating but liking someone at the same time, and I think that it would be fun to portray that story in the music video. The length of the song is also ideal for this project because our music video can only be around a minute long. The song we chose is around that length, so the entire song can be used and it wont seem choppy or interrupted. 

    Next, I'm going to have to begin researching music videos for similar songs to get some ideas for my music video. But, I'll update you guys on that next time. See you then!

Planning Blog: Title design

Hey guys! So the next thing that we discussed as a group was the design for our titles. Here's what we decided on.       Four our film, all of the titles will appear on the screen in the same way. They will suddenly just appear on the screen, very fast and unexpected. The titles will leave the screen in the same way, seeming to blink out of existence. This helps to create that sense of anticipation that we want to carry throughout our opening sequence. All of our titles will also be incorporated into aspects of the setting. For example, we will place titles on top of doors, on a road, or on cabinets to make them seem flush with the environment. This makes it seem like the titles are a part of the film, and help with the cohesiveness of the embedding.       For the majority of the titles, we want them to appear on the screen from anywhere between 2-4 seconds. Filming in Wilton Manors

     Hey guys, I wanted to write to you all today to explain the filming process for our commercial.   On Monday, October 4, me and my group met together after-school to film our commercial. I had brought the camera that we needed to use as a prop. Originally, Giulia was supposed to bring the camera, but since she forgot, I wen to my Media Studies teacher and was able to borrow one. After school, we walked to our first location to film the last three scenes. I made the decision to film the scenes out of order because the second location, the arch, was closer to us than the first location, Wilton Creamery. To me, it made sense to start with the closer location and then finish at Wilton Creamery, so that we could all get ice cream once we finished.      We first walked to the arch , where I analyzed the storyboard and began to envision where I wanted the actors to stand for the scene. Title Research: Art of the Title Website

 Hey guys! So now that we've done extensive research on our genre, we have now decided to research how the professionals embedded titles within their opening sequences. We first started with a google search and came across a multitude of different websites. However, the first website that really stood out to us was called "Art of the Title."     When we first went on the site, we immediately noticed that there were so many different opening sequences available to watch. You could choose to research a specific opening sequence, choose one from a specific designer or studio, or you could just scroll  through and watch whatever one peaked your interest. This website was very easy to navigate, which was very helpful. We decided to explore the website further and watched a few different opening sequences for ourselves.
