Spreading the Word

Hey everyone, time for an update! After getting all of the props for the film, I then moved on to my next task. I had to email different institutions to see if one of them had a medical centre we could film in. This was for one of the later scenes in the film, where the character wakes up and finds himself in a hospital bed. Since I wanted this scene to look as realistic as possible, I wanted to film it in a real hospital bed. The problem is, where can I find that?

I started by researching some nearby universities, thinking that their medical schools may have an area we could use. I first looked up Nova Southeastern University's med school and visited their website. At first I struggled to find a way to contact them without having to schedule an appointment first. However, after some searching, I was able to find an email for the dean of the school. I reached out to her asking if there was any way she would let us film at the school for a student project. I hope to hear back from her soon, but in the meantime, I also reached out to Kaiser University, which is a university close by. I did some research and saw that they also had a medical college, so I also reached out to their dean and asked her for permission to use their facilities.

Hopefully, I hear back from one of the two schools soon. However, if I don't, I made sure to have a backup plan. While the colleges would be ideal to film at, we can also make it so that the character of our film is just receiving home care. Since I already bought the tubing and props to make it look like the patient is receiving medical care, I'm prepared to film either version!

After taking care of the emails, I then focused my attention on creating a postcard for the film. This will act as another form of advertisement. Since the film has not been completed yet, I just started with the basics. I first created a login for the website Canvas, as through my research I learned that they are a great and free platform for making projects just like this one. When I logged in, they had so many amazing templates to choose from, but after some deliberation, I decided to just use a blank white template and create all the designs myself. This way, I could create a postcard with colors and designs that match the aesthetic of the film. On the front side of the postcard, I placed an image that represents our film as well as the film's title. Then, on the back, I filled in information such as where our movie will be premiered, when it will be released, and who directed and acted in the movie.

I still have some finishing touches to put on the postcard, but don't worry, you guys will see it soon! See you next time!
