Re-Shoot Blog: The Final Shots
Hey guys! So, after receiving feedback from friends and family, I had a few changes I wanted to make. However, this required a reshoot of 2 of the scenes. The first scene I reshot was the one where Giulia and I ran out of the house. The feedback I got from others was that the sound of cars passing in that scene was distracting, so this time around I made sure that whenever I started filming there were no cars in sight.
I set up the camera in the same way that I did the last time, on a tripod close to the ground. Then, I would press play and have both me and Giulia go in the house, and then have Giulia run out with me doing the same a few seconds afterwards. The process was pretty similar to what I did for this shot the last time, the only difference was that this time around I paid more attention to any unwanted background noises. I had to film three takes of this shot because the first two times a car passed by in the middle of filming. Not to worry though, the third time was the charm! I rewatched the take to make sure everything was good and I was very happy with how it turned out.
Another scene that I needed to re-film was the very first scene in the opening sequence. This is because originally, I had a close up of a phone playing the song “Somebody’s Watching Me” by Rockwell. However, since I can no longer use that song due to copyright reasons, I had to re-film that scene. I wasn’t able to film it the same day that I re-filmed the scene already mentioned because I had a dentist appointment that day. I decided to reach out to Giulia and set up another date to film, and she agreed to film on a Tuesday. On Tuesday I was prepared to go to Giulia's house after school and film, but the weather had other plans. It was dark and rainy all day long, and I knew that would be a problem for the lighting. Due to this, I suggested that the two of us film on Wednesday, but guess what, Wednesday's weather was even worse! Since I was unable to meet up with Giulia on any other day, I suggested that she film that shot herself at home since it is just a quick and simple high angle shot. This way, that scene could be changed and I could still work on making editing changes in the meantime.
Despite some minor bumps in the road, the re-filming process was pretty smooth and I think that the changes will make the film so much better. I can't wait to implement the new changes and get one step closer to having a perfected project! I'll be sure to update you all on any new changes I choose to incorporate.
