A Necessary Break

Hey guys, I feel like I have not updated you in a bit, but not much has happened in terms of the production process. Collectively, my group decided to take the week off from the production process, as we were all very busy that week. My week was very hectic, as I was preparing for and participating in a mock trial competition. Last week Monday was the only day that my schedule was not packed, hence why we chose that day to film.

That Tuesday after school, the mock trial team met for hours to finalize our cases for competition. That Wednesday was a day off from school, but I spent that day preparing with the mock trial team. Originally, I had planned on using Wednesday as a day to catch up on all of my schoolwork, including beginning to edit the commercial. I knew that I would have limited time to work on it the rest of the week, so I was going to complete most of my work that day. However, I learned that I had to go to the office where we would be competing in order to continue prepping and set up the room. This helped us get comfortable with the environment we would be preforming in and in the right headspace to compete the next day. Although it was a lot of fun, I spent the majority of the day at the office, so I was unable to get any work done.

Then, the next day was a Thursday, and it was a bit of an emotional day. The day started out as normal, but halfway through, our school was under a code yellow. We later learned that someone had unfortunately taken their own life on campus. I had planned on working on the commercial throughout the day on Thursday and Friday, but I was not in the right head space to do so.

My Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were also incredibly busy, as those where the days that I had the mock trial competition. On Thursday and Friday, I left around 2:30 p.m to go to the office where we would be competing. Each day, I stayed at the office from 3-10 p.m, and would get home around 11p.m. Saturday and Sunday were pretty much the same thing.

I truly had the most amazing time competing and made many unforgettable memories. However, even though it was a lot of fun to compete with the team, it did take a lot of time.  Therefore, that week I had no extra time to dedicate to schoolwork, and specifically, to my commercial. Therefore, I plan to work with my group on the project in the upcoming days. The commercial still has to be finalized, and I am excited to begin working on it again. I'll make sure to keep you guys updated on what happens next!
