Planning for my Extra Gum Commercial

Hey guys, I'm back! Today I will be updating you on the planning and ideas that we have for our gum commercial. 

 Props: 

My group decided to film a commercial advertising Extra gum, so the gum will be our main prop. In the commercial, we are planning on having the gum bring together to photography students, so we will also need a digital camera and phones for the project portion, and a skateboard to add character to one of the actors. We will also have a boba drink in the opening scene to show the actor got a drink while waiting for a text. 

Costume:

Our commercial will feature two high school photography students, so the costumes will need to represent casual, high school attire. The actors will be wearing jeans/khakis with casual t-shirts or sweaters. Sneakers will also be worn by the actors to further the casual look.

Schedule:

On September 27, 2022 we researched gum commercials to get inspiration and ideas.

On September 29, 2022 we began planning our commercial and discussed props, costume, schedule, set, location, and a backup plan. 

On October 3, 2022 we will create and finalize a storyboard for our commercial

On October 6, 2022 we will film all of the scenes in our commercial. 

On October 11, 2022 we will work on editing all of the shots/scenes filmed into one continuous video.  

On October 13, 2022 we will work on finalizing the editing and adding the non-diegetic sounds. This would be when we finalize our commercial. 

Set:

The set would first be the corner street where the two characters will meet. The street signs would be depicted and there will be shops in the background. The character will be carrying their skateboard as they are walking. The second set would be at the arch in a concrete area that is "artsy." 

Location:

For our commercial we will film in three locations. The first scene would be filmed in Wilton Creamery, where the first actor would receive a text notifying them of where to meet their assigned partner for their photography project. 

The second scene would be filmed at a corner street in Wilton manors, and this is where the two characters would first meet. One actor will enter the scene from one side of the sidewalk while the other actor would enter the scene from the other side, and the two would meet at the corner.

Our last location would be at an arch in Wilton Manors. This arch will be where the students choose to take photos for their projects. The arch is a good place to take pictures because the architecture and flowers are good subjects for photography. The arch is also where we will show one actor giving the other actor gum to break the tension and awkwardness. 

Backup Plan:

In the event that it begins to rain, we would change the locations of filing from outdoors to indoors. The beginning scenes would show the characters meeting in a restaurant, the New York Grilled Cheese in Wilton Manors. Then, the second scene would be filmed in Wilton Creamery, an ice cream shop in Wilton Manors. If one of the two actors are not present, one person would have to do the roles of both the actor and the director. If the designated director is not present, one of the actors will also have to film, setting up the camera somewhere like a table or window.
