Intro Blog

 

    Hey guys, its Yasmin Harebin. I'm a tenth grade student at Fort Lauderdale High School and I wanted to make this blog to detail my experiences in AICE Media. But, before taking you along on my journey, I wanted you to get to know me a bit. I am an only child, but I have a large extended family consisting of over 70 people. One of my favorite things to do is to travel, and I've been traveling ever since I was 9 months old. My favorite country thus far is England, and my favorite city, London. London was actually the first place I've ever visited, as most of my dad's family lives in London. Ever since that first trip, I go back at least once every 2.5 to 3 years, and I have fallen in love with the city. I feel like Europe in general has such a welcoming atmosphere, and that the sense of community and way of life there is very fulfilling. My dream is to move to Europe after college and pursue a career in law there. 

      Law is another of my passions. I am currently in the magnet law program at my school and I love being a part of it. I have been given so many amazing opportunities to learn about law and begin to develop the skills necessary to pursue law as a career. Although I have not yet figured out what area of law I want to pursue, I am leaning towards civil law as I feel that that would best suit my skill set and would be the most enjoyable. In addition to pursuing law, I would also want to be able to do some property management on the side. Currently, my dad does this and I would like to someday inherit those properties, renovate them, then rent them as well. However, if I didn't end up pursuing law, I would probably end up pursuing business or marketing because those are subjects that I am also interested in. 

    When I'm not traveling or focusing on school, I like to play tennis, rock climb, and read. I've been playing tennis since the 4th grade, and I am on my high school's tennis team. Lately, I barely have any time to practice, but I am hoping I will be able to practice before the tennis season begins in February. I also love rock climbing, but like tennis, I haven't gone in a while because I have a very busy schedule. But, as soon as I find time, I would love to start again as it is always a fun challenge. Another one of my favorite things to do is to read. When I was younger, my parents used to read to me every night, and I believe from that stemmed my passion for books. 

    I hope that this first introduction blog allowed you to get to know me a bit better, as you got to learn about some of my hobbies, favorite places, and some of my future aspirations. As I mentioned earlier, this blog will mostly consist of my experiences in AICE Media, and I hope you can follow along with me on this journey of new knowledge and, hopefully, fun experiences.

Filming in Wilton Manors

     Hey guys, I wanted to write to you all today to explain the filming process for our commercial.   On Monday, October 4, me and my group met together after-school to film our commercial. I had brought the camera that we needed to use as a prop. Originally, Giulia was supposed to bring the camera, but since she forgot, I wen to my Media Studies teacher and was able to borrow one. After school, we walked to our first location to film the last three scenes. I made the decision to film the scenes out of order because the second location, the arch, was closer to us than the first location, Wilton Creamery. To me, it made sense to start with the closer location and then finish at Wilton Creamery, so that we could all get ice cream once we finished.      We first walked to the arch , where I analyzed the storyboard and began to envision where I wanted the actors to stand for the scene. Planning Blog: Title design

Hey guys! So the next thing that we discussed as a group was the design for our titles. Here's what we decided on.       Four our film, all of the titles will appear on the screen in the same way. They will suddenly just appear on the screen, very fast and unexpected. The titles will leave the screen in the same way, seeming to blink out of existence. This helps to create that sense of anticipation that we want to carry throughout our opening sequence. All of our titles will also be incorporated into aspects of the setting. For example, we will place titles on top of doors, on a road, or on cabinets to make them seem flush with the environment. This makes it seem like the titles are a part of the film, and help with the cohesiveness of the embedding.       For the majority of the titles, we want them to appear on the screen from anywhere between 2-4 seconds. Short Film Research: (Buried Treasure/Mystery)

     Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!. I am continuing to research short films and their conventions. I am reviewing short films that follow my genre to learn about conventions I would need to use for my short film. As the genre I am using is mystery, I am going to be watching mystery short films. In this blog I am going to research the mystery short film, “Buried Treasure”. I was able to find this short film option on YouTube.       When the film opens, the music is the first thing once again that I notice. This music is different though from the last movie I reviewed. The difference was that this music got louder progressively as the opening of the short film continued. The lighting is the same though. I notice the dark lighting. The dark lighting creates a very deep shadow and puts spotlights on certain aspects.
